The Cadeado Wines vineyards are divided into two major wine regions in Portugal: the Alentejo and the Peninsula de Setúbal.
Península de Setúbal
In the Península de Setúbal, on the west coast south of Lisbon, we find the best soils and a strong influence of the Sado and Tagus rivers, which favours the cultivation and the creation of high-quality wines.
In total, there are 14 hectares of vines: 11 of red grapes – Castelão (5 hectares), Aragonez aged 35 years (2 hectares), Alicante Bouschet (1,5 hectares) and Syrah aged 5 years (2,5 hectares) and 3 of white grapes – Fernão Pires aged 35 (1,5 hectares), Arinto (1 hectare) and Antão Vaz aged 5 (0,5 hectares), located in a sandy valley, with an east-west solar orientation that benefits from a mild temperature, allowing to obtain grapes of excellent concentration and balance.
Alentejo
In the Alentejo, in the Portalegre area, we find an extension of 12 hectares of vineyards, in a valley of sandy soils, facing east west. In this area we have planted 10 red grape varieties – Trincadeira (5 hectares), Aragonez (2,5 hectares), Alicante Bouschet, 18 years old (1,5 hectares) and Alfrocheiro, 8 years old (1 hectare) and 2 white grapes – 5-year-old Viognier (1,5 hectares) and 3-year-old Moscatel (0,5 hectares).
Here, the soils are clayey but with an excellent aptitude to produce more structured red wines.
